Homebuyer Tax Credit Update! The first-time homebuyer credit of up to $8,000 has been extended to April 2010. In addition, the program has been expanded to allow for a $6,500 credit to recent or current homeowners who are are in the market to purchase a new home. One of the qualifications for this credit is that the home that was sold or is being sold must have been used as the primary residence of the homebuyers for five consecutive years out of the last eight. Eligible properties are any single family residence that will be used as a principal residence, i.e.houses, condos, co-ops, townhouses.
